February 5, 2020

The publication LatinFinance, which specializes in financial and economic issues in Latin America and the Caribbean, presented the “Deal of the Year 2019” awards in 26 categories. Two Chilean financial operations were awarded prizes: (a) the opening of Cencosud Shopping S.A. on the stock market, the largest capital issue in the history of the national stock market; and (b) the issue and placement on the international markets of two “green” Sovereign Bonds issued by the State of Chile in Dollars and Euros respectively, one of the first issues of these instruments in the world. Both issuers were advised by Morales & Besa’s Capital Markets team.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition which, of course, is shared, as all the legal teams involved overcame the multiple challenges of two very innovative and challenging transactions”, said Guillermo Morales, partner who led both operations on behalf of the issuers.

Andrea Díaz and Mariana Schnettler, both from Capital Markets, participated in Cencosud Shopping S.A.

Mariana Schnettler, Beatrice Russo (former international intern) for Capital Markets; Jaime Rosso for Tax and Francisca Bannura for Regulation and Environment participated in the Sovereign Green Bonds.
