Morales & Besa, together with the Faculty of Economic Law of Universidad de Chile, organized a seminar on financing of energy projects.

More than 200 people involved in the energy, legal and financial sector, gathered last July 24 in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law of Universidad Chile, for the seminar “Energy Projects: Relevant Aspects for Financing” , organized by the Faculty of Economic Law of Universidad de Chile and Morales & Besa.

Taking into account our country’s reality, experts in the field analyzed, from various angles, the most relevant aspects when financing energy projects. This was how the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy, Jimena Jara Quilodrán, referred to the current situation of the electricity sector and projections into the future; Rodrigo Violic, Business Manager of Banco BICE, analyzed the process of evaluation and financing of this type of projects; Myriam Barahona, Partner of Morales & Besa and Francisco Ovalle, Banking and Financial Law Professor of U.de Chile, addressed the contractual topics for funding; and Patricio Leyton, Environmental Law Professor U. of Chile, spoke of environmental permits.

The second part of the seminar was presented by Andrés Salgado, partner of ENC Energy Consultants and Former Director of CDEC SIC, who analyzed energy supply contracts (PPA); Francisca Pérez, partner of Morales & Besa and Juan Manuel Barahona, Professor of Tax Law of U.de Chile who referred to the refund of VAT on construction contracts; and Sergio Corvalán, head of the Legal Department of the SEC, who spoke on the practical aspects of concessions.

Through these types of activities, Morales & Besa seeks to provide its clients with relevant information to support the growth and development of each one of them.
