Myriam Barahona awarded as Best Lawyer in Financing in Latin America by Euromoney LMG

Partner Myriam Barahona, of Morales & Besa, received the award for Best Lawyer in Financing in Latin America, in the context of the Americas Women in Business Law Awards, organized by Euromoney LMG. The ceremony was held on June 6th in New York and the recognized the most outstanding female practitioners of around thirty practice areas, in addition to  categories such as best legal firm, and  best diversity initiatives, mentoring and pro bono, among others.

With almost two decades of experience in banking, financial and project financing matters, Myriam Barahona was nominated in her category along with experts from Uruguay, Peru, Colombia and Brazil. This distinction comes in addition to the recognitions she has received from legal publications such as Chambers & Partners, Legal 500 and IFLR1000, among others, which have positioned her in the top positions of their respective rankings.

“I am very proud of receiving this award, not only on a personal level, but also on a larger scale as it helps to recognize and visibilize the participation of women in legal areas that have historically been marked by the presence of men, which should help more and more female lawyers to become interested in these matters”, said the professional. In this regard, she added that at Morales & Besa, female lawyers represent 40% of the team, a figure that has been consistent throughout its more than 25 years of history. “I believe that, without a doubt, our culture based on merit and not on other considerations is what has allowed me to have a prominent role in the most diverse financing operations, and as a result, to be nominated and receive a prize of this standard”, she added.

Myriam Barahona, lawyer of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and LL.M. from the University of Chicago, co-leads the Banking and Finance and the Project Finance practices of Morales & Besa. She participates regularly as an expert in local and international conferences and seminars on the matter and among her clients are the main Chilean and foreign banks, as well as important companies in the infrastructure sectors, among others.
